“Remember, we grease di engine, we run tings”, a very famous line used from one of
his films. No, pressure, I’m going to say it of course, its Paul Campbell from his role
as a police officer in the film ‘Third World Cop’.
I have always held my ground to say that as it relates to Jamaican actors in films;
Paul has always been my favorite. The conviction in his face from each role, takes
you way out of the TV screen, the feeling brings reality to you and emotion you get
when watching him. I am not going to lie, when I watched my favorite Jamaican
film ‘Dancehall Queen’ where he played the well known gangster, ‘Priest’, I had
nightmares for weeks…lol… I was convinced his character was beyond real. I’ve
made it my duty to watch all the films he has been in and let me just say; I am still
impressed, I still keep watching over and over as though it’s my first time viewing.
How enthused I was to know that we could have our own International Jamaican
actor a part of the Iphias International Film Festival. I can tell you that his dedication
to the stage and to the big screen is an inspiration to many of us Jamaican.
Paul finds it necessary to keep youths motivated and help them develop their
camera skills. Tell you a secret; I heard Paul sings, I won’t even say how I feel when I
know a man has a voice of an angel. Ok, enough about my rants of infatuation. You
want to be as captivated or amused about him as I am, visit the Iphias International
Film Festival to be entertained from all angles.
